Our Farm

We are proud to employ regenerative agriculture principles along with organic farming practices to enrich previously depleted soil, increase biodiversity, improve watersheds and enhance ecosystem services.

Located in Madison County, NC just 20 miles north of Asheville our farm rests on 12 acres of old tobacco and hay fields. Out of use for many years, the fields were overgrown and the outbuildings were falling into disrepair, but the land was beautiful and we recognized its potential.
Slowly but steadfastly we are revitalizing and reclaiming acreage and growing capacity. We are restoring our old barns and outbuildings, including a beautiful old tobacco drying barn and a studio conversion for Emily’s ceramics business.
Recipients of a Conservation Stewardship Program grant, we have increased the scale of our native wildflower meadows to encourage bees, butterflies and all pollinators to thrive as they industriously assist us in our growing efforts.

We are so honored to call this small farm home and to share its bounty with you.

Owner / Farmer Nick Listo

- I’ve worked a lot of gigs and this has never once felt like work. It IS hard work and it requires non-stop diligence… but it turns out that this is a lifestyle I love. At any time I can stop raking, listen and look across this beautiful land everyday. I might see turkeys strutting through the meadow or deer in the distance. It is humbling and deeply rewarding work, shifting with the changes of season and weather, to revitalize this land and grow healthy organic vegetables for our local community.

With the intention of diving deep into his ceramics practice, Nick moved to Madison County with his wife Emily, also a ceramic artist, in 2017. Shortly thereafter he began working part time at a local nursery. And then he fell in love with growing things. And then they bought land…

These days Nick has turned his dream of living among a passionate community of makers and his love for getting his hands dirty, working hard and producing sustainable, tangible goods into growing food for his family, friends and neighbors.
