CSA Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Oak Holler Farm's Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). We are thrilled to have you as part of our farming community. By joining our CSA, you are directly supporting a small, family-run farm while enjoying fresh, farm-to-table produce grown using organic practices. To ensure a successful and enjoyable experience for all parties involved, please review and agree to the following terms and conditions before joining our CSA program:

  1. Membership Commitment

1.1 Season Duration: The CSA season runs from May to September. Membership includes weekly pickups during this period at your designated pickup location.

1.2 Payment: Members are required to pay the full amount of their share before the season starts. We offer full upfront payments and financing options for signing up to the CSA. Autopay must be enabled for payment plans. If autopay is not enabled and we have to send reminders each month, a 5% fee will be added to each invoice until autopay is enabled.

1.3 Cancellation Policy: Memberships are non-refundable. Once you commit, we are unable to provide any refunds for any reason as the money you invest in the CSA goes directly to purchasing seeds, inputs and infrastructure improvements. Non-payment for financing does not release you from your commitment to join the CSA or your payment due. We purchase all implements, seeds, and infrastructure investments in the fall which means your commitment to joining the CSA and financing agreement is vital to the success of the season.

  2. CSA Fulfillment

2.1 Pickup Locations: Shares are available for pickup at the following locations:

    • Oak Holler Farm Stand in Marshall

    • Sow True Seed in Asheville

    • Other community pickup spots may be arranged based on demand. Please contact us if there is a need in your community.

2.2 Missed Pickup: If you miss your scheduled pickup at the farm stand, you must notify us by 5 pm to arrange for pickup the following day. Any shares not picked up by 7 pm will be redistributed to prevent waste. If you do not pick up your box at Sow True Seed by close of business, the staff will bring your box home for their own use.

2.3 Notice for Missed Pickup: Please let us know 24 hours in advance if you will be out of town and will not have someone designated to pick up your box so we do not waste food. In most cases we will not be able to provide an alternate day to pick up your box or be able to provide extra food in the following week’s box.

  3. Weekly Veggie Boxes

3.1 Content of Shares: Each week from May through September, you'll receive a selection of seasonal vegetables and herbs (when available).

3.2 Quality of Produce: We work diligently ensure produce in your boxes is of high quality and will not spoil in a reasonable amount of time if stored properly. Many of the crops are harvested the day before your pickup to ensure the highest nutrition and flavor, and long storage crops are stored in ideal conditions to ensure the best quality when you receive it. Due to organic farming practices you may see some bugs on your produce, and while we do wash fresh items before they go in your box, the bugs do not always wash off easily. You may also see bug bites on your items such as greens, which are often unavoidable with our farming practices.

3.2 Reasonable Expectation: The CSA is not intended to replace the need for supplemental produce at the grocery store of farmer’s market. Some customers may find the boxes to have too much to use in a week, others may find there is not enough. We are unable to meet everyone’s needs exactly due to numerous factors of each individual’s diet but we aim to create reasonable expectations with our customers on what you will receive each week.

If you have quality concerns with your produce that we were unable to spot during our quality control packing, please contact us immediately.

  4. Substitutions, Crop Failure, and Illness Policy

4.1 Substitutions: We will not make substitutions to items in your boxes each week based on request or preference. If you have a severe allergy, please see section 6.3 for details Each week’s boxes are selected based on what is available on the farm that week, and if there is not enough of a certain variety to fill all shares we reserve the right to choose a similar variety to fill the gaps. Any changes in box content will be communicated with you to the best of our ability.

4.2 Crop Failure: While we strive to provide a diverse and abundant selection of produce, we are subject to the unpredictability of nature. In the event of crop failure due to weather or other circumstances, we may have to reduce the variety or quantity of items available in your share. We have made every effort to to prevent issues resulting in crop failure but there are circumstances out of our control that may affect the yields. We also reserve the right to decide if crop failure is substantial enough to cancel the CSA for a week.

4.3 Illness: We make every effort to protect the health of our customers, farm hands, and family. If illness directly affects our ability to safely handle produce, or puts our health and safety at risk, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone the CSA for a week.
