Chili Garlic Green Beans

This delicious side dish is inspired by Chinese garlic green beans and works with any type of green or string beans.

Ingredients

1/4 lb Green Beans

Neutral Oil (enough to fill 1-2” in your frying pan)

3 Cloves Garlic, Minced

1 tbsp Ginger, Grated

1 tsp Chili Garlic Sauce (1 tbsp if you like spicy)

We ussually Huy Fong Foods brand, but with the shortage have been using other brands or making our own

1 tbsp Soy Sauce

  1. Preheat the oil to around 350 degrees in a large, deep pan (we use cast iron, dutch ovens are great if you’re a first time fryer. If you don’t have a thermometer to test the temp, dip the end of a bean in. If it starts to bubble around it, it’s ready. If it doesn’t do anything, wait a couple more minutes)

  2. Fry the beans in the preheated oil until they’re blistered/wrinkly. To get an even fry, make sure the beans are not overlapped and all touching the oil.

  3. Drain the beans on paper towels or a cooling rack.

  4. In a separate pan, add 1 tsp of oil and heat on medium high

  5. Add the Garlic and Ginger to the center of the pan and cook until aromatic (usually 1-2 minutes)

  6. Add the Chili Garlic sauce and cook until aromatic

  7. Add the Green Beans to the pan and stir around with the Garlic, Ginger, and Chili Garlic Sauce

  8. Turn off heat and splash with Soy Sauce

  9. That’s it! Serve while they’re still hot for the best flavor and texture
